A note from

our founders

After working in pet food for nearly a decade, I learned a couple things: first, dogs shouldn’t be eating highly-processed kibble for every meal, and second, the alternatives shouldn’t cost a fortune.

Nutrition is the foundation of health, whether we’re talking about humans or dogs. While we’re reading labels and sourcing local, organic, whole food for ourselves, too often, we don’t think twice about feeding our dogs a mystery mix of questionable ingredients blasted with heat and pressure into a pellet stripped of nutrition. You don’t have to be a scientist to understand this; just look at kibble and ask yourself if it looks like real food.

I’ve had countless conversations with other pet parents, and the problem is crystal clear: we all want to feed our dogs the best food available, but fresh, frozen, and raw options are messy, inconvenient, and expensive. There had to be another option.

I spent years researching the alternatives — not just working with veterinarians and reading journals but visiting manufacturers and farms — and then I set out to make a new type of food that I would feel proud to feed my own dog, Tally.

The idea is simple: we take the highest quality ingredients and use an innovative freeze-drying method to ensure they maintain their nutritional value so your dog (and all dogs) get everything they need to thrive. Plus we took the headache out of feeding with our personalized instructions: just scoop and serve.

We hope with Tally’s Ranch you can spend more, healthier years with your dog.

Love,

Michael & Tally

Tally's story

After ending up in a shelter in Texas, Tally was brought to New York City by True North Rescue Mission, where she met Michael — and both of their lives were changed forever.

Originally starting as a foster, it wasn’t long before Michael realized he needed her in his life for good. One look at those soulful eyes, and the deal was sealed. Over the years, they enjoyed all kinds of adventures. Though there’s no way to know for sure what her life was like in Texas, judging by the way she herds anything and everything that moves, Michael is certain Tally was a ranch dog.

Over time, Tally struggled with a sensitive stomach and she developed red, itchy skin. Encouraged by their vet to change her food, Michael realized that there was no option with simple ingredients, minimal processing, and fair pricing.

After working with a team of veterinarians to formulate a new food, Tally’s tummy troubles subsided and her skin miraculously cleared. We’ve worked hard to bring this same quality to all dogs with Tally’s Ranch so that pet parents around the country can express the same love Michael has for Tally for their dogs.
